In Google's current battle towards becoming a global information middle, I've come to notice that the outcome sent from Google News may seem like only the articles we publish everyday. So I ask, doesn't it seem like Google News resembles an article listing of some sorts?

* Google News World: http://news.google.com

* Google News Canada: http://news.google.ca

* Google News UK: http://news.google.co.uk

I only mention this because when publishing my website marketing articles, I often wonder when they show up within Google News? 9 times out of 10, they are doing! Actually, they generally appear within 4-8 hours of being found from other top related sites.

So how exactly does Google News select it is content?

Right now, it would appear that 'news stores' & 'press release organizations' linked to your area on the web are profiting from these search results. If you think about it, would not a press release be described as a type of news anyways? Possibly...

You'll notice that only a select few are offering every one of the results, if you have a good look at the sites who produce the content within Google media. Again, it is possible that Google's information formula remains in its infant stages and probably includes a lot of constant battles to beat.

It could be in Google's best interest to assemble a staff of experts in numerous fields to simply accept articles/news articles in order to keep the information source within the Google kingdom.

There is Only A Portion of Results Showing:

While searching through the GN part, you'll also notice a comparatively small portion of actual search results developing. Only a fraction of a proportion of results get shown within the GN search results compared to exactly the same results within the standard search results available on Google's main page.

Only the sections to the left produce actual real-time news. These are: Prime Reports|World|Organization|Sci/Tech|Activities|Activity|Health. These links provide real-time results delivered from credible information sources online.

Google News Alerts - E-zine anyone?

When you think about it, you are giving your current email address to Google to get relevant articles to the key phrase delivered to your in-box, how does this differ from any other normal publication? Are we going to begin seeing Google Adwords within-the news signals? May they con-sider giving large the chance to organizations to market inside their email alerts as an one time mailing! I really hope not.

More and more we are seeing less of the Google we once knew and attended to love (A research club with some good benefits). Since Google's IPO, the develop-ment team at GG are starting to launch programs online that are starting to resemble what we now know while the good Yahoo Portal. Maybe there is any difference? Probably not.
